Description:

The addition of Long Acting Injectable Buprenorphine (LAIB) of the toolkit for medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) has been seen as a game changer. This case-based training will offer guidance for identifying which patients might be candidates for LAIB and determining which formulation might offer more advantages for particular candidates. We will also consider the practical aspects of navigating the process for ordering, obtaining, storing, and administering the medication. We will review best practices for initiation of LAIB including "straight to inject" approaches.

Objectives:

  1. Compare and contrast the available LAIB options and patient selection.
  2. Describe buprenorphine induction strategies using LAIB.
