Presented by Quality Insights, this session empowers oral health professionals to play a critical role in combating the opioid epidemic by offering practical guidance on safe dental pain management and responsible opioid prescribing. Participants will gain an overview of key tools and resources, including Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs), e-prescribing requirements, and continuing education opportunities, to support evidence-based, patient-centered care in dental practice

Credit Notice: Credit is only available for dental professionals (including dentists, dental hygienists, and expanded-function dental assistants). The maximum number of hours that may be awarded for this Continuing Education activity is 1.0 contact hours. The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, Division of Continuing Education will recognize this properly sponsored program for the maintenance and improvement of professional competence. This module can be applied toward the PA Act 124 of 2016 licensure requirement as well as the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023.
