Patient-Directed Discharges: Understanding Why, and How to Help

In collaboration with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, this session includes a panel of expert presenters discussing motivating factors for self-directed discharges among patients with substance use disorder and how to proactively plan for and support patients for continued care.

Objectives:

  1. Describe the motivating factors for patient-directed discharge.
  2. Identify important ways to proactively plan for a self-directed discharge.
  3. Discuss measures which may prevent patient-directed discharges.
